| About This Project |
New York City Center’s $75 million capital campaign underwrote the restoration and modernization of our historic theater and will ensure continued support for acclaimed programs such as Encores! Great American Musicals in Concert and the Fall for Dance Festival. Highlights of the renovation project, designed by Ennead Architects LLP (formerly Polshek Partnership), include new and reconfigured seating in the main auditorium with significantly improved comfort and sightlines; enhanced front-of-house amenities, including a new, heated marquee on 55th Street; renovated lobbies and redesigned bars; additional restrooms; a new, sprung stage floor; an additional elevator; and upgraded backstage facilities. A grand reopening celebration took place on October 25, 2011.
