Q: When did the renovation work begin, and when was it finished?
A: The renovation was completed in two phases. Phase 1 took place from late April to September 2010 and focused on the stage and backstage areas in the theater. Phase 2 ran from mid-March to October 2011 and focused on the auditorium, public areas and façade. Click here for more details.

Q: Were MTC and The Pearl Theatre Company affected by the renovations?
A: MTC and The Pearl Theatre Company productions continued as scheduled throughout the renovation. The renovation of Stage I will occur in the summer of 2012, following the completion of MTC’s 2011/12 season.

Q: How was the renovation paid for?
A: The renovation was accomplished through the capital campaign, Stepping Forward: The Campaign for City Center, including a public/private partnership between the City of New York and City Center and contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations.  The ongoing campaign seeks to raise additional funds to build program endowments and reserve funds to ensure City Center’s financial stability well into the future.

Q: How much money has been raised so far?
A: We have achieved just over 85% of our goal, with $64 million raised to date.
