This 10-week curriculum, the most extensive of our programs, gives students the opportunity to delve deeply into the creative process with master teaching artists, while being empowered to create their own work, take risks and work as an ensemble. Students develop the language and conceptual skills necessary to demonstrate fluency within their discipline and engage in reflective discussion, using student-generated criteria. Planning meetings between classroom teachers and City Center Education staff are used to outline customized goals and strategies for each residency. Classroom teachers then use techniques learned during professional development and activities found in the study guide to make curricular connections and review material with their students during class. Students share their work either in an in-school or at a cross-schools Sharing Session in City Center studios. The residency includes attendance at a professional performance at City Center.
