New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players

The Tower of London, the town of Titipu and a truly tall ship grace the stage as New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players sail into the newly renovated hall for G&S Fest 2013, featuring three iconic productions.

Everybody’s favorite, The Mikado, takes place in the Japanese town of Titipu, where everything goes topsy-turvy when a high school maiden, a wandering minstrel, and a lord high executioner find themselves in a preposterous love triangle.

The seaworthy satire H.M.S. Pinafore put the wind in Gilbert & Sullivan’s sails. The captain’s daughter has caught the eye – and the heart – of two men at once: a lowly sailor and the pompous Sir Joseph Porter. Only bumbling baby farmer Little Buttercup can resolve the mismatched mess.

The Yeomen of the Guard tells the story of a falsely accused prisoner in the Tower of London, the two girls who loved him, and an out of work itinerant jester in grand and colorful fashion – with humor and a touch of pathos. Because not everything in the world of New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players is a laughing matter…or is it?
