Whether you're a teacher looking to enrich and integrate your students' curriculum with the performing arts or a parent trying to fill an hour of the day creatively, City Center Education is here to keep children engaged even while at home.
On this page, you will find a selection of dance and musical theater educational resources that can be used as springboards to lead and support K-12 learners with meaningful and dynamic activities that promote critical thinking and engagement around productions like the Flamenco Festival, Evita, and Brigadoon, to name a few. Filled with a variety of activities, our study guides include historical, thematic, and contextual background for each production, creative and artistic insights, glossaries, student activities, resources for further exploration, and more.
Each resource also includes a short video companion. Many of these titles are available as full-length productions on streaming media services such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. These films can be used to further supplement learning at the supervising adult's discretion.
We hope you and your family find City Center’s educational resources helpful to your teaching and learning experience. We’re all in this together.
Lionel Bart’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist has been a household name since its premiere in 1960. The story of a child who dares to trust in others, search for love, and ask for more in London’s seedy underworld, Bart’s coming-of-age classic finds new life in this landmark Encores! revival. We are delighted to be able to share additional resources with students and families as we navigate the coronavirus crisis together. If you are able, we hope you will consider making a gift of any size to help us sustain our operations and continue to make the performing arts accessible to all New Yorkers throughout and beyond this crisis.
