Now in its second season, audiences have a chance to watch Tony Award-winning theater veterans—actor Gavin Creel, director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall, and actress Kelli O’Hara—as they coach emerging artists on skills that are vital on and off the stage.

Making a Broadway Dance Ensemble

Participating artists learn multiple dance combinations in different styles and receive guidance and feedback on their interpretation, technique, and presentation of the material. Audience members observe and gain insight into building an ensemble through the unique lens of the director/choreographer.

I Hope I Get It: Inside the Audition Process

Artists work on how to communicate a story through song, how to present themselves in the room, and gain insight into common mistakes and pitfalls. Participating artists receive personalized feedback and guidance on their work with an eye toward booking their next audition. Audience members get a look inside the audition process as participants perform a selection from their repertoire.

Popservations: Demystifying Pop/Rock Music in the Theater

Gavin Creel’s master class is designed to help students become more comfortable with performing pop songs in a theater setting. By examining song structure, popular recordings, and personal vocal performance, Creel encourages students to work outside their comfort zones to discover new ways to approach the material. Audience members are welcome to engage in the conversation that celebrates pop music in the theater sphere.
