New York Observer

For 50 years, Dance Theatre of Harlem has inspired the world with the revolutionary vision of a multi-ethnic ballet company that performs ground-breaking works with power and grace. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with all of you.

50th Anniversary Celebration:
Wed Apr 10 7pm
A spectacular, one-night-only celebration of iconic Dance Theatre of Harlem history plus a reprise of last season’s hit, Geoffrey Holder’s Dougla.

Classic DTH
Fri Apr 12 & Sat Apr 13 8pm
Two evenings of eclectic repertoire featuring exciting new works and revivals that reflect 50 years of DTH artistry. See DTH co-founder & Artistic Director Emeritus Arthur Mitchell’s Tones II, a work he created for the company in 1970 as he re-imagines it for this 50TH anniversary year; the New York premiere of resident choreographer Robert Garland’s as-yet-untitled newest culture bending work and a company revival of Adagietto #5, Royston Maldoom’s sublime trinity set to the music of Gustav Mahler. Geoffrey Holder’s spectacular Dougla closes the program.

Stay after the Friday night performance for a very special conversation between Dance Theatre of Harlem co-founder & Artistic Director Emeritus Arthur Mitchell, and its current Artistic Director Virginia Johnson.
