Music often lies at the heart of a dancer’s interpretation of a piece of choreography. How does music inspire, propel, and inform a performance? What does it mean to be “musical”? What happens in the absence of music? New York City Ballet principal Tyler Angle, along with Sara Mearns and other special guests, will explore the intersection of music as both technical and emotional information in this Studio 5 event.

Studio 5 at City Center takes audiences beyond the proscenium for intimate conversations about the artistic process with the great dance artists of our time. Each event features live performance excerpts.
